The fact that Renee could spend thousands of dollars daily didn't surprise anyone.
The fact that she could spend enough, under Bree's kinda watchful eye, to nearly bankrupt the former actress was ridiculous enough to fit Renee's true character.
Now it was Bella's responsibility to bail out Renee and Bree. Thankfully, she had some support from her father and the honorable Phil. Ironically, Bella even had support from the town widower and Bree's project, Embry.
"A suburb?" Renee asked with contempt.
"A suburb that is uptown from a major hub." Phil argued.
"I don't see how the state of Oklahoma could ever have anything considered a hub. And definitely not a major one."
"Miss Elliot, my father and I will be relocating there in the spring."
Renee's eyes narrow, looking at the corner of her screen where Embry was with Phil.
"Interesting indeed. But a place that has softball leagues has no appeal to a star."
Renee hasn't been a star since the early naughts, Bella thinks.
"Think of the first pitch. They would be lucky to have someone of your caliber." Phil butters up.
Renee thinks on that.
"Bree?" Charlie asks the only daughter still at home.
"What?" She asks, blankly.
"Anything to tell Mom?" Bella hints.
"I visited Angela there two summers back." Bree sounds as bored as she looks.
"And you loved it? Imagine us all in the same town again." Embry directs her.
"Of course.!" Bree cheers, drastically changing her mood. "Mom, we must go!"
Emby and Phil share a look.
Bella and Charlie share a look.
Renee and Breee stare blankly.
"Fine. OKC it is."

Charlie: I know it's not your fondest place in memory but until I am tenure, I can't leave LA.
Bella: okay? what does OKC having any meaning in my memory have to do with anything?
Charlie: you have to go watch them.
Bella: who them? Mom is grown. So is Bree.
Charlie: Angela hasn't been feeling well.
Bella: Angela is a hypochronic.
Charlie: all the more reason fro you to be there and talk sense into the three.
Bella: ...
Charlie: you freelance and you don't have to be around them all the time.
Bella: when can I stop listening to you?
Charlie: you're agreeing because you care as much as I do.
Bella: well, we should both stop. But okay.
Chapter 2
Bella isn't even in OKC 10 minutes when she is faced with an advertisement with Jacob's face.
Because who buys diners?
Basketball fans apparently.
Somehow the clumbsy dreamer became a top rate athlete. Bella is sure everyone knows how. But she can't deign to learn it.
She's entering her cab when her phone rings. She gives the address of her loft space and answers the call.
"I need you!" Angela yells.
\
"I-"
Bella can't form the sentences about her luggage, being jet lag or just unwilling.
"Little Charlie fell from a tree."
Bella didn't think kids went outside anymore. But here's her nephew proving herr wrong.
"Call 911. Or drive him yourself. I'll see you later."
That's what Bella wants to say but of course she doesn't.
"I'm coming. Call 911. I'll meet you at the hospital.
It's been almost a decade but OKC is just as familiar as yesterday.

After Charlie is situated at Children's, Bella was called to her mother's realtor's office. Renee was flay out refusing to stay at the house Adult Charlie had picked out.
Getting her out was a hassle but ended quicker than Bella expected.
"I want to stay next door!" Her mother exclaims as they walk from the cab to the front door.
And here they go again.
Bella is glad she sent her bags ahead. She couldn't imagine pulling them along as she grabs Renee's hand and marches her up the walk.
Renee breaks away and knocks on her neighbor's door.
"Ma'am," the young cowboy who opens the door says long suffering. "I told you already. We've lived here for years - 7 to be exact. We would hate to move next door not just because of the financial logistics but because it's more than a house. It's a home."
Bella is trying to recapture her mother but Renee is flailing all over.
Bree watches on.
"Babe! I got this." A voice calls.
A voice Bella recognizes. She looks down, covering her face with her hair.
"Seth?" Bree asks.
"Bree?" Then, "Renee?" Then "I play bridge with Angela so..."
That's news to Bella.
"----?" Jacob's twin shrieks.
Bree mutters "awkward" as she teleports their still yelling mother.
And her dad had the audacity to imply there was any fondness of OKC in Bella's memory.
----- ----- -----
Somehow Bella correcting Seth from her deadname and being introduced to Seth's mate Jasper, she ended up in their living room.
Jacob's scent is prominent. As pronounced as Jasper and Seth's. There's a scent of a young female wolf.
Bella begins to get jealous. Until she processes that the scent is very, very young.
She looks at Seth questioning.
"Oh, Jacob leaves Sarah with us when he has a game."
Sar- Sarah. Her dream daughter's name.
There's a jingle of keys before Bella can say anything. The door opens.
A young girl tackles Seth and yells, "bye grandpa Billy!"
"You're not going to let me come?---" Billy trails off. "You!"
The young girl looks up from Seth's shoulder.
She's the vision of Jacob and Bella. An even better pairing of them then Bella had ever imagined.
"Are you my dad?" The little girl asks.
And Bella runs out.
